After a new website is launched, I like to call the client up and just have a chat. If there’s an area I want to focus on, I ask a specific question about it. Sometimes a client will say something that just makes me smile inside. I’ll ask them “can I quote you on that?” They always say yes. I tell them I’ll write it up and send to them for approval. I find doing the legwork for them keeps me in control and gets it done quicker. And if a team member is specifically mentioned for their work, I’ll share it with them. Because in a world full of negative feedback, people love to hear good feedback.

In my experience I requested my boss to create an recommendation letter when I left my previous job. In Japan, recommendation letters are uncommon so I created a template using Wold by myself and requested it to my boss. My boss created a letter for me and I got to know myself from the message. In the beginning I thought it's trouble my boss but I thought this experience was good for my boss as well because it was first experience for us. I thought it was important to have the courage to make a request.

Testimonials from clients with name recognition adds credibility. Getting a “You were so fun to work with” testimonial from Ryan Reynolds’s means more than getting the same testimonial from Bob Smith. Not that we’ve worked with Ryan Reynolds…yet.
