We can gather all the data we want. Knowing it's time for a change often starts with a feeling. An ongoing feeling of dissatisfaction, a nudging for something more, a little voice inside that needs attention. Listen to those feelings and that voice, address what keeps coming up, and understand the root of the issue - my clients often find that voice requires reflection, and then upon further reflection, we move into data and analysis mode. There's definitely more to be shared about not basing your career satisfaction on others' perceptions... For example, I define success based on: - Reaching my potential, which relates to the extent to which I am thinking critically and creatively - Contributing to society (to what extent are my contributions positively impacting the world) *Note, this is not the same as basing my career satisfaction on how lucrative my salary is, or how prestigious my job title is, in comparison to the people whom I respect. Even though I desire the respect of people whom I care about, their approval cannot be the reason for my career satisfaction.
