How do you share graphic design ideas with clients?

Understanding a client's needs is crucial in sales. That's why I prioritize information gathering during my initial calls. By letting clients do most of the talking, I gain valuable insights into their requirements. Based on our conversation, I can provide a price range estimate or a customized proposal with options tailored to their needs. By focusing on my clients and listening to their needs I build trust and establish a solid foundation for a successful business relationship.

We're presentation designers so we produce Live scamps on-slide, this allows us to play with the content in the programme that we control and the client understands. we bake it all in on approval.

While visual direction should have more to do with the end user/customer than the business owner's preference, it's still important to have their buy-in. The problem is verbal descriptions of visual preferences don't always line up. My idea of "modern" and a client's may differ. Kicking off a design phase of a project with mood boards or style examples to hone in on preferences saves a lot of time and potential headaches down the road. In the early stages, I also ask my clients for examples of work they don't like. Asking that gives clear direction on what to avoid. If we can collaboratively agree on a creative direction from a visual standpoint, we're off to a great start.

Every phase of my branding process includes a presentation where I can lay out and explain my concepts and direction. Clients need to understand the "why" behind your choices, and wrapping it up in a pretty package elevates your offering and positioning as a consultant.

In my experience, encouraging feedback and collaborating with a client makes you land a lasting design. Make clients feel comfortable and encourage them to share their thoughts, opinions, and suggestions. Actively listen and respond constructively to their feedback, incorporating their input into your designs when appropriate. As you’ve created a collaborative process, be open to revisions and modifications after feedback is taken.

Present multiple options and remember to provide context. Presenting clients with a range of design options allows them to choose the direction that best aligns with their vision. Provide variations that explore different styles, color palettes, or typography choices to showcase your versatility and provide alternatives. Present mockups of how the design would look on various platforms for context, such as a website or mobile app. Showcasing real-world examples helps clients understand how the design will translate into their desired medium.
