How do you share knowledge with professionals in your network?

There are extremely effective ways to share knowledge with fellow professionals. This should be broken into 2 categories, the micro level (sharing with one or a few) and the macro level (sharing with a larger audience). On the micro level information can be shared through email, texting, direct messaging but my favored route of information sharing is unequivocally either face-to-face sharing (in person or video conferencing) or phone discussion. I believe that directly connecting with your colleagues is still the most effective way to share information and get instant feedback. At the macro level prefer using social media platforms with LinkedIn being by far best, emails, writing articles, video conferencing, and meeting presentations.

It is very important to understand your fellow phycian perspectives, where physicians stand with their ethical and other views and to see if they understand your views and are receptive to your ideas or opinions. Knowing your audience of fellow physicians will help you figure out what content and messages your physician colleagues care about. Once you have an idea of what to say, knowing your physician audience will also tell you the appropriate tone, voice and etiquette for your message.It is of paramount importance to know your physician colleagues by their names and to greet them whenever you meet them.Sharing knowledge via email, phone, duty room interactions, staff meetings, lectures or office visits are some ways of sharing knowledge

One of the most effective ways I've found to show value to physician groups and clinicians in general is to share data as a story that answers their clinical questions. Knowing your audience and what those clinical questions are ahead of time is the key. Anticipating their needs and being prepared with a breakdown of the data in advance to show how the individual compares to peers, and how the peer group is compared to national benchmarks (if available) is also greatly appreciated and helps build trust and foster healthy professional relationships.

✨Trust and Credibility are the most important factors when sharing information with other physicians: 👇👇 That doesn’t mean you need to be an Ivy League professor or the PI on landmark clinical trials ( sometimes these are negative indicators - think of incentives ) The physicians I trust the most are practitioners with diverse experiences and a relentless pursuit of improving their craft, not their career. Establish that reputation, and other physicians will listen.

I would add that LinkedIn is a very good place to establish your reputation as a person who interacts regularly with professionals like physicians. The physicians themselves have a brand. You can read what they are talking about on LinkedIn. That way, you can see if you are on the same ethical page. Right now, there is a huge diversity of ethical views from physicians from different fields. Some are more "move fast/break stuff", and some are more "innovate with care". It's good to start off on the right foot by finding one that is ethically on the same page as you, so you can then talk about your potential collaboration with less friction.
