How do you show data entry accuracy to employers?

A simple data entry typing and filing test can be administered that will PROOVE your skills to your prospective employer, as well as informing you of the areas that you still need to perfect. I'm a huge fan of them.

I did not know that these existed and I can consistently type 120+ WPM with 99.9% accuracy. I worked previously for JPMC in their CIB as a data entry specialist and was entrusted to train new hires in best practices. Would acquiring these certifications be a waste if I don't intend to make it known that I am a fast and accurate typer? In our modern age, it seems increasingly more valuable in just about everything we do. I don't know how much value is provided by attesting to something that can quickly be proven with a simple typing test.

In my experience, if you’re attempting to apply for a job that you are wanting to showcase your skills you want to hone in on the skills they are most seeking. Put those skills up front that are in those devolutions that are asking for such as, words per minute (WPM), or accuracy included with the WPM time. Also, include other those keywords they are using in their duties you will be doing in the job description or use the synonyms. I would recommend making yourself look very professional and proficient in the least words possible but most descriptive way. As they always say, choose your words wisely.

Showcasing your skills is always a great way for your new employer to better understand your capabilities. If you use Data regularly and have a good understanding of how to properly “cleanse” the data whether with your own protocol or a similar protocol used by your new employer this is always important to showcase so they understand what you contribute to a team overall as well as how accurate you are in your skills. Consistency is key with Data and knowing how to be consistent within entry helps to avoid errors. Regularly cleaning the data not only helps to eliminate duplicates, but it also helps to find inconsistencies, and other errors. This can be done using software tools or manual checks and is a highly sought after skill!

I agree with Dawn Ergle. Nowadays, spell check and grammar check are better than ever. I just learned this recently - as an example, these features can actually rewrite your whole text message depending on if you want to sound more professional, friendly, authoritative, urgent, and so much more! And by utilizing it, it helps you learn more ways on how to be effective in communicating. As others have already mentioned, there are also the data entry tests you can take online, and one of them is by checking your typing speed. It is an easy way to prove and show an employer that hey, you pass their required WPM or may even be faster.

I personally love utilizing spellcheck and other grammar checking platforms. I regularly double-check my spreadsheets by using the functions to make sure my numbers match up with what I have input. It never hurts to take a few minutes to give your documents a good once over!

Even after seeing all the numbers (and functions) match up in all of their displayed locations, zoom out. Does your result(s) make sense? If not, your product isn't finished.

In my experience, embracing feedback has always been a valuable resource to excel in my data entry work and demonstrate my dedication to continuous learning.

Make 2 data entry operators simultaneously enter the same data on two computers link to each other so that when either operator enters unmatched data, it will send alert them and will show unmatched data entered to be checked and corrected in real time.

I am a huge fan of data entry skills testing within the interviewing process. Tests that provide job specific examples, within a time limit similar to that of the position, showcases how a candidate may perform in real world application.

In my previous role, I was responsible for managing inventory data. During a critical stocktaking project, I had to enter thousands of product codes & quantities into the system accurately. I completed the task efficiently and with great attention to detail, which resulted in a 99.9% accuracy rate. This means out of the thousands of entries made, there were only a handful of minor errors that I quickly identified & corrected. Moreover, I kept track of my keystroke speed during the project and averaged 10,000 keystrokes per hour. This shows my ability to work swiftly while maintaining precision.
