How do you show off your quantifiable results?

I would actually suggest following the RATS framework for your resume: start with the result! In the example mentioned above here, I would switch things around by starting with the result as follows: “Increased online engagement by 40% , number of followers by 25% and total sales by 15% by managing social media campaigns for three clients in the X industry. Focusing on the quantifiable result at the beginning of the sentence will be more impactful.

I teach all my clients the STAR method. However, I don't just teach them it for their resume. I teach it to them for their interviews as well. If you can speak slowly and clearly, and explain your answering using the STAR method, it helps you get your point across clearly while sharing metrics, which is exactly what the company wants to hear about.

Some job seekers feel frustrated because they can’t measure results with exact figures, percentages, or dollar amounts. This is ok. Although hard metrics are best, you CAN emphasize outcomes that were ‘improvements’, ‘increases’, ‘best’, ‘time-savings’, or ‘top’. For less number-focused results, consider these additional exploration questions: * Have people you mentored gone on to do well? * Have you won awards or received special recognition from superiors, peers, or customers? * Did you get promoted in record time? * Have you assumed additional responsibilities or willingly assumed tasks outside your job description? Just remember to only include details in your resume that matter to the reader! Be strategic.

The intersection of data and story is powerful. Numbers can provide proof of your success—but, it’s important to remember that a resume isn’t a spreadsheet. Include metrics that are meaningful based on your employment goal, and *context* that shows why.

The metrics you choose to use on your resume should relate to the job you are applying for; that's what the employer is interested in. If you can't stand behind a certain number or result, then don't use it. Specific numbers are the best, but you can also include other ways you impacted the business, customers, vendors, peers, or the industry at large, like including results that require powerful soft skills.

Every bullet should start with an action verb. Action verbs help to demonstrate what you can do, and have done. Quick tip - remove "responsible for" from your resume! "Responsible for" sounds like something you pulled from your job description. Hiring mangers and recruiters want to know what you have actually done, not what you were supposed to do.

When it comes to readability, it's important to consider that people are often reading online and on small screens. For that reason, I avoid dense text (paragraphs longer than 3 lines), add white space (.5 points on MS Word) between each paragraph/bullet, and always create subgroups with subheaders when there are more than 5-ish bullets to include.

It is important to format your resume for both the ATS and the person reading it. Simple is better. Focus on what you can do for the new employer. Quantifiable results are great, but only if the reader can easily find them, and see how they fit in their role/company. Charts, graphs and icons may work for a hard-copy resume, but some ATS systems don't know how to handle them. And charts, graphs and icons aren't easily readable on mobile devices either. The strongest resumes focus more on quantifying results and highlighting transferable skills than on fancy formatting.

A fantastic way to share quantifiable stats is to pick your top 3 achievements and put them in a career highlights section. This ensures you're showcasing your very best results on that first page and they won't get missed. It's especially useful for people with very long careers and extensive achievements. Consider front-loading your bullet statements with the results. When a point starts with the result, it makes it easier for the reader to spot the impact and it gets them hooked. Instead of sharing: * Renegotiated all supply and service contracts to produce $2M in annual cost savings. Try: * Produced $2M in annual cost savings by renegotiating all supply and service contracts.
