Ojo que no tiene por qué coincidir con tus capacidades actuales *Aplícate un análisis DAFO: debilidades, fortalezas, oportunidades de desarrollo, "amenazas" exteriores *Una vez tengas claro lo que quieres conseguir ¿tienes las capacidades que necesitas? Si la respuesta es NO busca conseguir esas capacidades (TIP con formación o con trabajo voluntario)

To show your unique value to employers, start by defining your value proposition. This concise statement should encapsulate the unique contributions you can make to the organization, highlighting your strengths and how they align with the company's goals.

Candidates need to articulate results and impact that they had for their employer. Listing job duties and responsibilities or years of skills only tells a potential employer what they were supposed to do. It doesn't prove they were actually good at their job! Every employer wants to know your accomplishments and how you are going to solve their business problems. Show results, impact, and quantify your results to illustrate you are the right person for the role!

Ensure you're actively listening to each interviewing panel member, using their names where possible and infusing your answer with direct wording from their question into your response. These two points can show genuine attention and build rapport with your audience.

To help you define your value proposition to employers, you can start with a better understanding of yourself, your values and your strengths. Focusing on what you appreciate in a workplace, particularly when your values match an employer's and when their role plays to your strengths, will help you formulate clearer messaging. To capture their attention, it's best to showcase how your previous achievements, which you can quantify, will help them achieve their business goals. You can showcase that simultaneously on your LinkedIn profile, CV/resume and in interviews.

Your resume and cover letter need to be written for the hiring manager and recruiter. What in your past experience would be relevant to them? One of the biggest challengers job seekers have is selling themselves. Also avoid things that will date you like a street address and 'old' email address.

When creating your resume, focus on accomplishments not duties performed. When creating bullet points be sure to include an action verb, the task, and the outcome.

Pull up all the points from the JD you are interested in applying. Subsequent to each lines, mention your key selling points. Example: Ability to communicate effectively - For this point, mention how your good communication skills have helped to solve a problem. You can also talk about your multi-lingual skills and how you manage multi-cultural or geographically disbursed team members.

I am a fan of very tight, clear and specific writing on resumes. Readers are scanning for key ideas and metrics. Avoid phrases like: various, a variety of, many, a lot, in order to, as a result of, responsible for, and the like. They add words without adding value.

Prepárate preguntas sobre la empresa, sobre tus entrevistadores, pídeles que te expliquen su experiencia en la empresa. Tan importante como responder preguntas es saber hacerlas ¡y es muy diferenciador!

Don't be scared to ask about the mode of the interview, and be prepared accordingly. Many recruiters send invites at the last minute, but as a job seeker, you be prepared beforehand. Stay calm and well-hydrated. Remember it's just a conversation, prepare your questions and points accordingly.

I have been a member of Toastmasters ( the international organization to develop public speaking) for many years. A fellow member was going for a promotion and used his speeches in the club meetings to get feedback on how he was answering interview questions. He credits his getting the promotion to the practice and feedback he got. Lesson: Know the main ideas you want to get across in an interview and practice and get feedback.

Keep in mind that interviews are a 2-way street. You are interviewing the company, the culture, and the people, just as much as they are interviewing you. Prepare well for it by researching as much as you can about the company, including its current projects. Have a list of questions prepared that give you insight into why people enjoy working there. Use ChatGPT or other AI tools to help you draft good questions, but make sure to edit them and put them in your own voice. Tell the truth. If you don't know something then say that. Explain any gaps in your Resume with the truth. Ask if you don't understand a question. Be authentic. Be genuine.

Make sure you are prepared to explain the results and impact you achieved for other employers. That is really want an interviewer wants to know. How will you bring value to and drive results in my organization? Also, be able to highlight your accomplishments, and put them in terms the interviewer will find useful for their situation. Finally, be certain to prepare your questions to the client for the interview. It is always good to ask, "what should I accomplish in 90 days to 1 year in order to be successful in this role?" "What are the qualities of your top performer?" "Why do you work at this organization, and what brought you here." Also ask, "are there any deficiencies in my background that would prevent me from getting this role."

Many people try to give answers that they think interviewers want. Don't do that. Answer truthfully at all times. Be vulnerable. Talk about mistakes you've made in the past and what you've learned from them. If you don't show them who you truly are in the interview and then end up getting offered the job, you're going to have to continue that façade... don't waste time and energy on that; life is too short. That right role, in the right team, at the right company, is out there waiting for you.

One way to communicate your unique value to an employer is to ask questions about people that are successful in the company. Listen to the words used to describe what the person or people do and the results achieved. Chances are you will hear words like resourceful, tenacious, discerning, well-thought out process and implementation, charisma, save the day, trailblazer, humble, navigates obstacles via relationships, trustworthy, astute, etc. These words are attributes, the visible behaviors that differentiate you from everyone else. How do you do what you do that consistently delivers results. They are more than skills, they are intrinsic, and are your go to super powers. What are your unique attributes?

What I find helpful is to take a marketing approach to landing a job. Whilst getting your resume and cover letter tailored or preparing for interviews is good advice, what isn't thought of or expressed well by candidates is their understanding of the employer's reasons for advertising the role and what pain they're experiencing that needs only your expertise and no one else's. If you understand an employer's true and deep reasoning for requiring the role and you can be the exact match for that requirement, and be confident in delivering the results that match, you will hands down win the job.
