In my humble opinion, there's no magic to do during the Peak times.. This should be already managed before the peak times, if we understood the sentence"i can sleep through the storm" It means that we already have our emergency and contingency plans The efficienct planning and management of the resources are the key success factors, also drills and scenarios simulation.

Leverage Systems: Use WMS (Warehouse Management System) to automate task sequencing and optimize routes. 3. Most of the businesses will know their peak seasons in advance. So, in my opinion following strategy may help in managing most critical part: 1. Analyze past data and do a pro-active planning for workforce, equipment and infrastructure required. 2. Optimize warehouse layout and utilize temp. warehouses & add extra vehicles to the fleet for backup. 3. Implement possible automation such as barcode enabled sorting and picking/loading conveyors. 4. Strategically articulated rotation of working shifts to ensure every man gets a proper rest/extra working hours don't impact productivity. 5. Cross-train staffs on various tasks to ensure flexibility. 6. Incentivize workers and transporters 7. Continuous monitoring to identify & eliminate delays
