Getting gathered around a product roadmap is a great thing. Make sure though that you're all aligned on what things on the roadmap mean. Quite often in projects, I get the impression that objectives, features, deliverables and virtually everything on it can be interpreted a million different ways. Be humble. You can't be sure that your interpretation is the one that makes "sense" just because you work within product. Combat it by ensuring a crystal clear and shared vision - the rest will reveal itself along the way.

Perhaps you want to do a quick detour along the way. Make sure that you communicate this to stakeholders: a roadmap is a living thing.

In my experience, this statement is quite oversimplified. Yes, a product roadmap tool CAN automate a lot of processes, but make sure you also revisit it often - with your stakeholders. Nobody likes a mass of "There's a new update to your product roadmap"-emails. But one of them might just be important - act on it.
