Though projects are the best way of keeping in practice and really flexing those muscles in frontend or backend. Oftentimes, we can't afford to choose the projects and they might not head in the direction we want them to. So, instead of thinking big, think in small chunks. Get a bit of practice in sites like Leetcode for backend and algorithms, or frontend mentor for frontend. They consume less time but still flex your muscles.

I think the most logical thing would be choose a framework that supports BE and FE with minor differences. An example could be Nuxt. Both sides are using javascript, both sides using same framework and same config. There are only small differences in BE and FE.

The most important is that you should know how big the project is and where should be the weight. Is big differences between UI gallery and Tool for voting. I prefer little bit have more logic on backend. It's due bug fixing and monitoring.
