What are the best ways to ask for feedback on your work?

I try to create an open environment for feedback and ask one simple task “everyone take 30 minutes and come up with at least three ways to improve x”. Then we collect the data and review it as a team. The team is made up of representatives from different fields (analytics, customer experience, engineering, etc.). This allows us to fail and succeed as one unit.

1. Specific Skill Improvement: - Request feedback on a particular skill or aspect of your work that you want to improve. - Example: "I'm aiming to enhance my presentation skills. Can you provide feedback on how I communicated the key points in the last meeting?" 2. Project Performance Evaluation: - Seek feedback on the overall performance of a specific project. - Example: "I'd appreciate your thoughts on the recent project. What worked well, and where do you see opportunities for improvement?" Career Development: - Ask for feedback with a focus on your long-term career growth. - Example: "As I plan my career development, I'd like to know your perspective on my strengths and areas where I can grow. “

It's a bonus if you can gain access to a subject matter expert in the field - someone who has pioneered earlier products or services similar to your own work. Reach out to them with a genuine, unique (niche) compliment and explain what you're doing. Make it brief. Ask if you could pick their brain, let them know they might be able to quickly validate or negate your approach and how helpful that would be. If you're genuine, specific, appropriately complimentary, brief, you have a good chance of getting a response even in a cold reach. If SME is too famous or inundated to reach, explore their team. Quite likely there are valuable contributors associated that are available and willing to offer feedback.

Avoid leading or vague ones that could bias responses. Use open-ended, specific questions to encourage honest and detailed feedback. For instance, instead of "Do you like this feature?", ask "How does this feature help you solve your problem?" or "What challenges did you face using this feature?
