I always advise anyone seeking mentorship to begin by reflecting on these three fundamental questions: Who am I? What opportunities am I looking for? Why am I asking for them? The cornerstone is to find your purpose and define your aspirations; the rest will naturally follow.

Building your reputation as a senior executive: 1️⃣Get involved in professional organizations. 2️⃣Mentor and coach other executives. 3️⃣Speak at industry events. 4️⃣Write articles and blog posts. 5️⃣Seek out opportunities to network with other business leaders. 6️⃣Stay up-to-date on industry trends. 7️⃣Be a lifelong learner. Building a strong reputation takes time and effort. However, the rewards can be great. A strong reputation can make you more marketable to potential employers and give you more credibility in the industry. It can also help you to build a successful career and make a positive impact on the world.

To build a standout reputation as a senior executive, focus on authentic thought leadership through innovative ideas, engage in mentorship and advocacy, participate in meaningful CSR initiatives, showcase adaptability and a global perspective, communicate transparently, network across industries, excel in crisis leadership, prioritize employee well-being, and invest in a strong personal brand that aligns with your values. Consistency in these efforts will distinguish you as a dynamic and respected leader in the eyes of your peers, employees, and stakeholders.

Jeder von Ihnen kennt viele engagierte, talentierte und erfolgreiche Personen. Warum soll sich also jemand für Sie entscheiden, wenn es um den neuen Job, die Führungsaufgabe oder Projektleitung geht? Wofür stehen Sie? Was ist Ihr USP? Warum sind gerade Sie die ideale Besetzung? Machen Sie sich durch konsequentes und konsistentes Handeln, für bestimmte Aufgaben, Werte oder Vorgehensweisen einen Namen. Die Aufgabe mit Ihren persönlichen Fähigkeiten oder früheren Erfolgen zu verknüpfen bringt einen klaren Vorsprung. Dazu müssen Sie Profil zeigen und darüber sprechen. Erklären Sie nicht, wie Sie sich der Aufgabe anpassen, sondern wie Sie diese mit Ihren Werten und Visionen perfekt mit Leben füllen.

Feedback is the gift that should help someone to: do things differently; change a habit or two; become more self-aware; or understand what they may need to change in order to be more successful. I think off three formats when/before structuring or seeking for feedback: 1) Appreciation: Recognising and rewarding someone for great work...etc. 2) Coaching: Helping someone expand their knowledge, skills and capabilities...etc. 3) Evaluation: Assessing someone against a set of standards, aligning expectations and informing decision-making.

First, it’s important to lead by example—doing high-quality work and sticking to your principles. Building genuine relationships with others in your field is also crucial; it’s not just about networking, but really earning trust and respect. Clear communication is a must, both in setting expectations and listening to your team. Sharing what you know by mentoring others helps establish you as a leader and supports those around you. Staying active and visible in your industry, whether through events or platforms like LinkedIn, keeps you connected and relevant. Being adaptable and open to new ideas is essential, especially as things change rapidly in business. And of course, delivering results is key—showing that you can get things done.

Never dismiss feedback, but don't assume it is 100% correct either. Evaluate and decide whether the feedback makes sense to you, and does it have even a kernel of truth. When in doubt, consult with mentors and trusted advisors. At the beginning of my career, I spent a lot of time and energy trying to fix things that didn't need fixing because I listened to feedback from my manager. Luckily, at some point, I confided with the division head who advised me to ignore it and move on.

Catually, if you are a senior executive and your reputation isn't already rock steady, something is wrong. You should mentor other people to support their journey to seniority, follow and nurture carreers and soft skill, provide expertise and support. But none of this will work if your reputation isn't established and crystal clear. Never forget reputation means trust.

So making sure that you have the highest standard of attitude helps in making your reputation stronger and thus helps you networking even better. As the trust attached with your name is built and recognised, your network of like minded professionals will be there to be leveraged for better opportunities business and career wise. Also as the power of Networking is accessed your “Network becomes your Net-Worth” and better business opportunities are opened to be leveraged.

Your work experience should speak highly of you. If you excel in your work it spreads like anything. You also need a good network not only to promote your good work but also to seek help, assistance and advice whenever required in subject matters, areas beyond the areas of your expertise. This net work also promote you in areas of your expertise whenever their clients need it. A constant, continuous communication with past, current clients also creates good image. You should be contributing on your subject matter in magazines, newspapers etc. one should ensure participation in forums of discussions either as a speaker , panel member etc. which establishes your authority in your subject matter.
