I agree with this I would caution farmers who sell into the bio energy/bio industrial sector. This is a growth sector heading into the future 💯 however there is still some adoption risk. Keys to watch out for in particular for the bio energy side is the adoption of sustainable fuel in the aviation sector. Which would have a big impact on the demand side.

Weste from poultry being a good source of urea, can be used to generate Fertilizer which can be used on farms at cheaper prices, subsequently generating desired income, and also serves to reduce pollution.

In my experience we can use hatchery waste as a source of fertilizer, biogas or as compost, this will also improves public perception of the poultry industry and enhances its social responsibility and sustainability

Harmful effects of mycotoxins observed in humans and animals include carcinogenicity, teratogenicity, immune toxicity, neurotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, reproductive and developmental toxicity, indigestion and so forth.

Improving poultry feed efficiency and quality is crucial for the industrys sustainability. By optimizing genetics, nutrition, and using precision feeding tech, we can reduce costs and environmental impact. Incorporating alternative feed sources like insects and food waste also helps cut reliance on imports.

There are a few ways I think we can approach this issue. One is the use of technology to create new alternative feedstocks including single cell proteins, high protein insects, worms, sprouted grains, etc. Another, and my preferred choice is an alternative production system where chickens are part of an integrated farming system where mostly animals are used to help manage the land instead of tractors. This creates a living ecosystem that can regenerate to the point of self sustainability. This land management style can generate far more usable biomass per acre the excess of which can then be used to meet a number of other local and regional community needs creating a virtuous cycle of healing and growth.

Again, these problems are all a result of overpopulation through the desire to sell more chickens. Quality over quantity is the answer. Decentralize and downsize to population sizes that 1. the land can support 2. Benefit the soil and land with proper rotation.

Where possible I've shifted from Styrofoam trays to recyclable plastic packaging which are more circular. At the grocery level, better rotating of stock, optimizing sell-by dates, and communicating storage instructions to retailers can reduce waste. For surplus or unsold products, food banks, soup kitchens, farms with animals to feed, and even high quality pet foods offer alternative routes to avoid landfill disposal.
