Employees are busy, so offer flexible training options like online courses or workshops during breaks. Make sure the training is useful by checking employees' skills regularly and teaching them what they need. Give employees clear plans, mentors, and check-ins to help them along. Set clear goals and check how it improves things like work quality or customer satisfaction. By overcoming these challenges, businesses can help their workers learn new skills and be ready for anything.

Everything must begin with working with the senior executive team to be clear on the direction of travel for the organisation. Will it be about sales growth? Will it be about operational excellence? Perhaps, it will about M&A... whatever the future requirements of the organisation, it must begin with being clear about the future vision and goals of the business. The future shape will dictate what is needed and can accelerate the analysis of future resources such as skills, technology, property and talent.

The start point is skill scan and match with the skills required for the role. Need to have one to one with the staff. Explain the options, needs, and rewards. Sourcing a candidate pool of employees interested and motivated to participate in reskilling.

Use engaging and interactive learning content, such as simulations, gamification, and hands-on projects, to enhance learning experiences.

We all know that change is difficult, as we mature, even more - some of us accept it more readily … be a positive early adopter! It is okay to revise and learn as you go- it is forward movement- keep putting one foot in front of the other!

Not many like change even good change. Most workers are linear tasks solvers. A few are multitaskers. Workers, regardless of position, develop life routines. They get up the same time each morning, consume a same breakfast or they don’t eat, they take the same route to work. A traffic interruption creates anxiety. They check into the workplace the same way each workday and proceed to their work station. Break times and lunch times occur approximately the same time. Leaving for the day reverses the morning process. There are variables to these routines. Now the hard part!! How to overcome change avoidance. Leadership and effective communication are critical to problem resolution. Change goals should be explained. Initiate change slowly.

When people feel known, seen, and understood, they become open to change. Creating environments where people feel this way takes time, but can be a force-multiplier for organizational gains in the long-term. Having learning & development leaders and change managers who prioritize social-emotional aspects of learning is key to mitigating change resistance. A mantra that helps me to focus on the people side of change is this: people want to feel like things are happening with them and not to them. A way to ensure that people feel informed and consulted is to make detailed and consistent plans for communication, including feedback loops.
