Cross contamination can be prevented by designing the facilities to ensure that other products or materials don't contaminate the products. This requires containment and as mentioned above separation and segregation as required. The air handling system has to be designed and operated in such a way that it takes out the materials and doesn't carry over to other areas. Adequate cleaning, line clearance are imperative.
