Nothing is unrealistic if approach is calculated and planned. First we need to understand why demand is unrealistic, if may be the time constraints, more support, making analysis beforehand. Once we know the reason, there should be clear plan discussion with higher authorities supported with clear reason to make them understand that approach needs to be reevaluated. This has always worked for me. Make a new plan with agreement on both sides and start working. You will get sucess.
