Look at Product Market Fit (PMF) -are you solving a problem in the market and does your solution solve the target audience's problem (learn via customer feedback/discovery) Assess your Go To Market Strategy and actively monitor KPIs and Sales growth. Focus on Long Term value creation and Cash Flows rather than GAAP accounting. Follow your VC's advice. Talk to customers.

One thing I found that is helpful is to elicit feedback from existing customers. Identifying gaps in communication and/or service could be the key to turning things around. Asking questions like, "What could we do better?" or "What service or product do you wish we provided would be most useful to you right now?" are good starting questions.
