By committing to ongoing growth and development as a leader, I'd overcome any obstacles and lead my team to greater achievements.

Emotional Intelligence: is a very important topic, because this need more insight and personal energy to understand our selves; this also involves mental health; if our emotions are not in control it's because our mental health is poor, and we need to fix that instead to control only the emotions that those are a result from our internal problems unsolved.

I’ve found one of the best ways to help yourself as a leader is to participate in peer coaching groups. The Vistage and YPO, formats are a unique opportunity for a leader to be vulnerable with others that have the potential to call them out. In too many cases I’ve seen the “emperor wearing no clothes” and being unwilling to hear about it. Another good opportunity is a strong Board, formal or advisory, that the leader respects and is willing to share openly with. Ultimately, if the leader identifies with his behaviors this is a very difficult situation, if the bus-dev issues truly are the bosses behaviors. Unfortunately.

In my experience this is a loaded question. As an advisor to hundreds of leaders, the idea that a leader damaging the company’s bus-dev, and realizing she is doing so, is an oxymoron. As other contributions pointed out, the leader needs help to see the light. The fact that she doesn’t see the light prevents her from hearing the reality. The truth is available to her and it will take either her hitting rock-bottom or a skilled executive coach, that she accepts, for her to decide to change behaviors. Awareness is the first step in change management and desire for the change the second. Without steps one and two she will never recognize the root cause or make the commitment to address it.
