People were born with different personality traits. It is important to understand your traits, and there are different psychometrics tools you may use to assess yourself, for instance, DISC and MBTI. Then study the results and try to do self-reflections. Do not try to change or improve all at once, but it is recommended the traits that hold you back from advancing your career. For example, one of our traits may be low for "I" (Influence) that could be a reason that makes you feel uncomfortable with dealing with people or socializing. Make commitment to adapt more, join networking, or social events, and keep self-awareness until you feel normal. A point to ponder, skills can be developed; thus, keep learning and you will get there.

I feel alot has to do with self confidence. I've always said, "Some of the most amazing things in life are only a few steps out of your comfort zone". Intentionality is critical. Start small by reaching out to fellow HR professionals on LinkedIn. Join local HR groups or SHRM. The Chamber of Commerce is another great avenue. Remember, no one of us is as smart as all of us so if you want to improve your networking abilities and grow personally and professionally, get out of your comfort zone. One step then the next.
