It all starts with the process. Having documented robust processes that are delivered to our staff and form part of the onboard training will set the scene for success and a quality driven culture. Without setting the standards up front, it’s difficult to ‘retro fit’ them later - bad habits have crept already in place, especially if no standard exists to correct it. Setting expectations can’t be the job of the quality manager alone; everyone in the organisation is responsible, but folk will need to know the how’s and why’s to achieve this. This is where good, clear, simple documented processes can have a huge impact.

Rather than leaving quality and testing for something at the end of the value stream, incorporate quality right from the beginning. QA should help with definition of requirements, work together with the implementation team and client. The last step should be a formal check but rarely deliver any quality problems.
