This is followed by a 30-minute review of the last quarter’s goals, aiming for at least 80% completion. Next, an hour is spent confirming the vision and addressing key issues. Two hours are then dedicated to setting new priorities for the quarter, focusing on the top priorities. The session concludes with a thorough discussion to resolve major problems and a 10-minute wrap-up to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.

In my strategy work I’ve found the following definitions useful. ‘Purpose’ is ‘Why you exist beyond making money’. Vision is the ‘big audacious thing’ you want to have achieved and be known for in the very long term. ‘Mission’ defines how you’ll get there in high level terms. ‘Values’ are the cultural backbone and (should) define the way you do things around here.
