One of the best ways a company can address the challenge of communication barriers is though the adoption of a central hub for comms, work and culture. These central hubs can both lead us to the tools we use daily in our jobs, but also serve as that anchor tying us to the central objectives and culture of our organisations. Furthermore, one central hub means little to no confusion in comms upholding comms guidelines becomes far easier for managers assigned to the task.

Communication barriers can be defined as obstacles that one may face when attempting to effectively communicate with another person. These barriers can be anything that can misrepresent and/or avert someone during the communication process. This process involves a sender, receiver, and message.

i believe 1.communication gaps, due to culture differences, 2.unclear regulations; to Overcome these challenges requires sitting the goals and deadline of the task at the first place, make sure a clear and direct channel is opened among teams, and last make sure it is all about getting the job done, nothing is personal.

Role ambiguity can cause a lot of challenges in cross-team collaboration. In previous roles, I found that having a chart that listed out, bullet point style, the basic responsibility of each individual team member to be helpful. This type of chart can be in addition to your regular organizational chart. This is easier to do when your organization is smaller in scale, but could also be achieved on a larger scale organization as well. This type of chart can be especially helpful when bringing on new staff members and gives a little introduction to who does what.

Roles can change over time as responsibilities change. Sometimes, responsibilities can create gray areas, and no one knows who does what anymore. It is important to clarify roles as changes are made, or else you may end up with folks doing the same work or accidentally not doing the work at all.

In general it include problems with talking to each other, not using the same tools, having different priorities, and struggling to coordinate tasks and deadlines. Solving these often involves better communication, shared tools, and clear coordination.

It means that the teams have limited or unequal access to the resources they need to complete their tasks. For example, some teams may have more budget, staff, equipment, or information than others. Some teams may have to share or compete for the same resources. These constraints can lead to frustration, resentment, and inefficiency. To overcome resource constraints, you need to plan and allocate the resources effectively, such as prioritizing the needs, negotiating the trade-offs, and tracking the usage.

The reason, is misalignment of goals. It means, that even though the KPI was achieved for each department, the work done did not contribute or support the overall objective. It would be like a department washing a car while the company actually wanted it to go faster.

Misaligned goals can hinder progress and create conflicts. Establish clear organizational objectives and ensure that team goals align with these overarching objectives. Regularly communicate the organization's vision and strategy to all teams. Conduct periodic check-ins to assess goal alignment, and make adjustments as needed. Foster a shared sense of purpose to strengthen team cohesion.

To overcome goal misalignment, it is good practise to bring all departments together to map out the e2e journey of the customer. Coming together builds internal relationships and breaks down misalignment / silos. Each department will see that the end goal of all functions is actually the same. The functions will all will have different methods / goals of how they can achieve this. It will also confirm the RACI of each department / role and where their job can start and end in the process. Optimum results will be achieved when teams collaborate their efforts and will break down the idea that they have different end goals.

Goad setting is really important to make sure that you are growing. Many times, we make goals easy to achieve and don't look at the big picture. It's easy to just focus on yourself and consider others around you or the company you work for. When that happens, goals get misaligned. Knowing the mission/vision statement of your company can help teams to align goals for the good of themselves and the company. It also reinforces teamwork and allows for more open communication.

Some of the problems one can encounter when working in collaborative groups is the misconception of different goals. When different teams have set different goals, growth is almost impossible. Setting a clear mindset in all the people involved in a team is crucial when working together to collaborate and let growth in.

I would love to add the following: 1. Siloed information (when teams work in isolation and do not share relevant information across departments). 2. Insufficient coordination and planning between teams. 3. Resistance to changes in processes or systems. 4. Diverse work styles and organizational cultures. 5. Lack of clear ownership and accountability for tasks or projects. 6. Insufficient or incompatible technology tools and systems.

I think something else that is valuable to consider is laying too much on tech. Communication is key. Find the right balance between useful techonolgy tools and human communication.
