The content is the core of the learning experience. It is important that the content is designed as a multisensorial learning experience. Needs to have relevance for the learner and applicability. The online experience need to contribute to the lifelong learning competencies of our audience.

Content is always underestimated but this is what gets us from A-Z in education. Slides have their place, they present our ideas but they are only useful in so far as we can present one slide that creates dialogue between tutors and learners. Ask questions and call your students by name inviting them to answer, you will gain their attention. If necessary, introduce break-out rooms and do visit the rooms to monitor proceedings. When it is time to give report from the room, give the task to any member of the group

Antes das aulas entenda o nível médio dos alunos, para que durante as aulas você possa nivelar todos e partir para a geração das competências. Pós aula, é interessante você disponibilizar um formulário, que seja anônimo, com perguntas sobre qualidade das aulas, dos materiais, das ferramentas, exemplos... qual a avaliação dos alunos com relação a esses pontos? Quais sugestões, o que eles fariam diferente se estivessem no seu lugar?

Assim como um cantor possui em seus ouvidos um retorno sobre como sua voz está saindo de sua boca, eu utilizo um acesso a mais em minhas aulas com essa mesma funcao. assim.... rapidamente consigo corrigir a rota e não deixar os alunos com a sensação de que o som esta baixo ou alto demais... voz com som de metal e audio e video sem sincronização. é preciso ter esse cuidado para não comprometer a experiência completa.

Encourage learners to use the video conferencing tools and their features to respond to your teaching. simple examples are using emojis on Google Meet/Zoom to respond to an argument you are making or a joke you may be cracking. The emojis can become instant feedback for you and your content as well. Keep yourself updated on the latest educational tools and integrate them into your digital classrooms. You can use the poll feature in Meet, break out rooms in Zoom for discussions, and tools such as Mentimeter to encourage student responses.

Online learning isn't static! Track these metrics to refine your delivery: 🧐 Engagement: Are learners completing modules, participating in discussions, and submitting assignments? 📋 Assessments: Identify areas where learners struggle to pinpoint content that needs clarification. ⁉️ Feedback: Solicit learner input directly through surveys or informal check-ins. 📈📉 Data Doesn't Lie: Use platform analytics to track completion rates and areas where learners drop off.

Seek feedback from the participants, as well. While it doesn't change this lecture, it can make it better for next time. Keep your audience and their needs in mind, too.

Observe the content, delivery procedures and strategies and outcomes yourself before seeking feedback from students, peers and colleagues. Observation by self is the most useful evaluation of lectures delivered by someone because it provides not only external feedback focused on procedures and outcomes but also internal feedback pointing to the strengths and weaknesses in content and strategies. Observing if the listeners are engaged in the narratives, descriptions or arguments etc. can help understand the appropriateness of content. Observing if audiences respond more positively to the visual or auditory materials creates feedback on procedures. Asking the audience to retell the content can help one understand the outcomes.

Conceptualising the lecture as part of a wider process rather than an endpoint is key here. When we gather student feedback, we have a powerful and rich source of analytics that can drive improvement next time around. The end of the lecture is just the start of the improvement cycle, if development is our aim.

Obtaining feedback is essential and can be gathered through various methods. It should be a continuous process. It’s also vital to foster a secure and open atmosphere where students can freely share their feedback. Avoid depending solely on one or two feedback collection techniques as it could lead to monotony for your students.

Giving lectures online is extremely 'didactic' and might not be the right way to help someone learn something. I recommend we rethink what we mean by 'effective' as well rethink the idea of lectures as a form of teaching. Learning is more than content driven, it is determined by the learner's motivation to learn 'something'. It is also driven by their ability to engage with the material. Do we know about the learner enough to 'lecture' them? In an online environment with open access to content - the answer to that is 'no'. Access does not equal engagement.

Find YouTube videos in the format of lectures and use the metrics to identify why the most popular videos received the most views. 9 times out of 10 it is because the presenter is delivering the content in an engaging manner to hold the attention of the viewer. They use engaging stories, relate age old concepts to relevant topics to what’s current today and they use great tones and range of voice. Unfortunately, if you’re in education you need to adapt or run the risk of losing the attention of your audience.

Tools like PhET or Labster simulate experiments, allowing students to explore scientific concepts remotely. Integrate these into your curriculum to complement theoretical lessons, ensuring practical understanding. One thing I have found useful are interactive tools such as Nearpod, these allow students to engage in collaborative boards, questions and drag & drop activities. It allows me to check for understanding and monitor the energy level in the virtual setting. The down part is they require a lot of preparation to be done well. Exit tickets are also a great strategy, something as simple as a Google form will do it.
