One thing I've found helpful is to visit and join local clubs and groups. Toastmasters for example is a very powerful and cost effective resource for developing speaking, communication, presentation and leadership skills. Also, watch for business or self-improvement conferences and conventions through work to learn more about your industry and profession, or to strengthen your career skills. Speak up and participate in conferences, then take new information back to your company and team. They may be able to implement better strategies, procedures and processes to increase efficiency and overall success.
