One of the tools I found helpful was perspective-to-plan conversion. Everyone learns to turn a plan to perspective in the university, but I found turning good views into plans or sections could give great insight into what good plans look like. So anywhere I find a perfect view or space, I immediately turn it into a plan and study the specifications that make it a good space.
