For me it's 2 core things that can act as basics for the user centered web design and everything else gets aligned with it eventually: 1) Consistency in terms of spacing as well as typography as well. 2) Careful choice of design elements choices made: it actually depends on the requirements that what is the end goal that you are trying to achieve but staying consistent in terms of spacing and Visual Hierarchy do the most of the job.

a great way to define your user in a clear way is to create a "character sheet", yes just like in D&D games but in this case it should reflect real users based on your research. you can start with the following: - their gender - their age - where they live - what is their job - what is their income - what are their shopping habits - what they like to do in their free time - what type of social media they use and so on... to make it more real and fun you should give them a name and attach picture that represent them. this method is effective for any type of user research and definition.

Understand what your users are, what they want is the basic of the UCD. The method is based on four itearative steps: 1) Understand the context of use 2) Specify user requirements 3) Design solutions 4) Evaluate your solution against the requirements That's not a linear process, once you arrive at the point 4 you repeat the process landing on point 3,2 or 1, until you have satisfactory results. Surveys, interviews, personas, scenario and USER TESTING. If quantitative or qualitative depends from the situation, you have to evaluate the contest, but remember the test has to come from the external. Whatever is your project do GOOB (Get Out Of Building). Testing with your colleagues is a starting point but not enough, you need real data.

The most important thing for me is to set up a design style guide. When I start a project first thing I do is create UI color pallete (based on brand color as well as grays and semantic colors), typography scale (h1 - h6 and body). Later on it is useful to build component library (developers will thank you for this) as well as other design tokens based on your project requirements. Optimizing a website is difficult for some people, especially for me. But this is crucial. In this day, many people use HP instead of Dekstop, and responsive and adaptive have become a must. And several parameters are used so that the website can run optimally or be easily accessed by users, one way to find out is to use the pagespeed insight tool. There are 4 assessments that we can see from the analysis results (performance, accessibility, Best Practices, and SEO). By knowing the results of the analysis, we can determine which priorities must be improved.

There are consistent patterns used all over the web, so don't reinvent the wheel if not necessary, use what is already established, remember "Don't make me think". 1) Organize your menu clearly, structure your links, section and subsections. 2) Users wants to know where they are: breadcrumbs, headings, highlighting menu voices. 3) Quick search option, and test it, test it, test it. Offer sorting and filtering options. 4) Pagination: check with your devs if you can offer infinite scroll, if not make it easy to jump from a result page to another. 5) Don't force a format for input, let your user type and you site adjust, AND help them dividing long informations in chunks.

Think of a "Leaderbord" for best comments, top reviewer, and so on, or use badges to add to profile and next to the comments. About the reviews, implement starred reviews, star ratings. More than animations think about adding reminders to sign-in to get the full features of your website. Last, add options to quickly share everything. Be sure every post, comment, could be easily "linkable".

You always need to start with questions rather than just jumping into design. - Why are we designing this? - Who is it for? - What are their Jobs To Be Done? - Why would people use it? - What business outcome are we trying to achieve? - How do we marry that with creating value for users?

One of the biggest and most overlooked pieces of user-friendly websites is the intersection of information architecture and user propensity. Many of my clients say they want a site that delivers leads, and that they have had huge issues with that piece in the past. These clients, most well-versed folks, want to list everything that they do, build pages for every detail, attempting to make sure everything is prominent and findable, yet the end result is often haphazard on-page navigation and copy that speaks to the algorithm - not the users. You can’t always predict your users, especially without any data, but you can narrow choices. If you want your users to call you, make it easy to do so by removing extraneous rabbit holes.
