Think about where your prospects and clients are already engaging. What circles are they in? Who do they listen to today? What tech/businesses are "before" your business in the "buying river" these will all direct you towards the clusters within the ecosystem where you will best be suited to engage and build partnerships. It's not enough to build an ideal partner profile in a silo... use real world examples and adopt the nearbound ethos into your planning. How can you "surround" prospects (with nearbound) with their existing, trusted relationships? Think about not just one partner, but the multiple that service your prospects and customers today.

Additionally, the ability to identify and leverage complementary strengths and adapting to changing circumstances can contribute to mutually beneficially relationship.

Typically you will successfully identify the benefits for yourself and your end customer, but the partnership needs to add value also to your partner. From here, focus on the specific person you are dealing with on your partner's side. What are their KPIs? How do these role up into the overall company goals? This will then help you determine HOW you will actually engage in the partnership altogether. People are motivated to make things happen when it directly benefits them - the same goes for your partner and the people you deal with on their team. Align with that, and you win.

One of the most crucial things to understand is how the partner and customer make the most profit, and whether that runs counter to your goals in the engagement. By "understand" I mean - DO THE MATH - model it as if you were their employee making a business case to their management. Remember - for profit enterprises are just that, and if any of their executives or employees diverge from that principle for too long, they won't be working at that enterprise for long enough to execute your agreement with them.

In business settings some people do QBR, others do weekly sync or just have continuous discussions on what's happening good and bad. Communication is the key! Putting time together in the schedule is also a great path of making sure this communication happens

People work with people they trust. People are also always self-motivated. These two facts are OPPORTUNITIES for you to capitalize on. With this, if you align with their self-motivations and show the work of how you will help them get there, they will trust you and have reason to prioritize you. If you do not start there, all else will fail. Taking lead in the interaction and setting the pace, by doing as described above, will situate you in the best possible position for success. Coincidentally, your partner will also be set up for success too.
