Data wrangling is one of the most time consuming aspects of any data pipeline. It is a crucial, but often forgotten part of the process. My key checklist: 1) Properly Estimate - If anyone is telling you that this will take less than 40-60% of the project time, they are not seeing the entire scope of the problem. 2) Focus on Data Quality - Have automated checks in place, particularly around missing data, dupes, and data inconsistency. 3) Document everything - You won't remember the data pipeline details a year from now, but the process will be running silently in the background. 4) Build for Scalability - While it is tempting to treat your wrangling process as something you can manually vet and validate, this is impossible.
