My perspective is a comprehensive, integrated schedule is key. Plan the work and work the plan. For complex programs/ projects, do it in increments, either a 30 - 60 or no more than a 90-day rolling plan. In conjunction is clear, concise, frequent communications- no surprises.

In a Program / Project , your technologies ,their scope,duration,compexity,depndencies and the teams involved decides the fitment of tool. From my perspective if its 1) small and simple scope project a simple xls and micros included in it can help to efficiently deliver the objectives. 2) If its a global ,multicounty,higly complex scope and value project we can use Microsoft Project .3) Or else if their is ask of bringing agile / DevOps framework to the execution of a project , the best tool can be Trello & Jira . Having said that its about the persons commonsense & logical decision making approach helps to deliver the project supported by tool which just act as a medium or catalyst ,to capture the float, slippage and critical path .

Quando se trata de comunicação efetiva em projetos, eu costumo separar em 3 diferentes âmbitos que, se funcionando bem, contribuem fortemente para o sucesso do portfólio de projetos e programas: Ritmo, Tático e Estratégico. A comunicação estratégica visa o alinhamento do portfólio com a estratégia e objetivos do negócio (curto, médio e longo prazo), é neste âmbito que são definidos os objetivos macros e a alocação dos recursos, visando alcançar o máximo valor de negócio. I'm a big believer in using what you have. In the past I've worked with groups who were interested in trying the newest project management tools with their flashy special features, but not only can this come with a large price tag, but often with unforeseen issues around integration. Therefore I think the best approach is to start by looking at the tools you already have at your disposal and doing a deep dive to see how you can best use all the features these tools have to offer. Using a tool you already pay for and have integrated into your system can save you a lot of time and money in the end.

It is atypical for any project team to execute to any one standard process. Moreover, many industries can not follow any of these, or if at all, only at a very high level. Therefore, it becomes critical to document the processes involved to the leaf level - be it either a PM process or an underlying engineering one. This documentation also assumes critical importance where repeatibility is required - such as the background I write from - SoC/ASIC design. It must also be understood that the documentation of the processes involved is almost never complete - and all these documents must be considered living documents. Engineering teams must be held against said documented processes, and PMs should provide necessary control to ensure this.

De acuerdo con Kat Breeggemann, también voy con la simplicidad de los procesos. En algunos proyectos he sido el único que sabe usar MS Project y al final debo pasar la información a Excel o Sheets, así que en coherencia a la comunicación efectiva, las herramientas que utilicemos para llevar el proyecto también deben ser de fácil manejo y acceso.
