You just had a great interview. How can you make sure you get the job?

1-thank them for meeting with you, but never say “thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to meet with me”, because that implies you feel you aren’t worthy of their time 2- write something specific, from the interview that you both connected on. It is a final way to make a lasting good impression and remind them of who you are. 3-If there was something you forgot to mention during the interview, this is the time for a succinct story to make that point. 4-End with, “I am very interested in this position and looking forward to next steps. Please let me know if there is anything I can provide to help with the decision making process. Thank you.” And THAT is how you leave a lasting positive impression so that you get the offer!

The advice I give my clients, only send a thank you email or message if you really liked the interview. It's important that the message doesn't sound needy. Indicate what you specifically liked about the interview and that you are excited to find out what the next steps are. When sending an a thank you note, make sure you are connected to your sense of self-worth. And to not get attached to the end result. A good interview is no guarantee that there will be an offer. Keep a positive mindset and go with the flow.

Do you know what all hiring managers care about? Results. To stand out from the crowd you need to showcase exactly why you are the right choice. And simply saying so in a "thank-you" email is not enough. You need to ensure you are asking questions during the interview that give you the information you need to a) qualify your continued interest in the role and b) provide you insight as to if and how you can help, specifically. With that info you can craft a 'Proof-of-Potential' slide deck outlining your clear understanding of the company's challenges and showcase exactly how you will solve them. 3 problems or opportunities. 6 slides. Several next round interview requests, and just as often, job offers.

Make sure that you say "Thank you" during the interview. If it has gone well. Say 2 things 1) This has been really a great meeting....Thank You. and 2) "I'm really interested" "What should be our next step?" Then, send a short thankyou note, handwritten if possible, reiterating your interest. Highlight the area where you and the interviewer to whom you're sending the note really "connected." It will likely be a bit different for each person. It's easy and highly personalized. Use your best penmanship.

To maximize your chances of getting the job after a great interview, promptly send a thank-you email expressing gratitude, reiterate your enthusiasm for the position, highlight key points discussed in the interview, and convey your eagerness to contribute to the organization.

In my experience, it's always a good idea to send a thank you email after your interview to each interviewer separately. It's a great chance to reaffirm your interest in the position and explain how it aligns with your long-term career goals and interests. Then you can follow up after one week and again after two weeks if you haven't heard back.

One of the easiest ways you can keep in touch is to follow and/or connect with the person who interviewed you on LinkedIn. Doing this will help increase the odds you see their posts, and then, by commenting on and engaging with their posts, you'll be more top of mind and visible to the person. Though this may not result in you getting a job offer, it's helping you nurture a relationship that may be useful in the future.

Poder tener una comunicacion fluida con el reclutador es algo que debe contrsuirse desde el primer contacto y no sólo cuando el candidato necesita respuesta. Como reclutadora muchas veces nos pasa que el candidato solo actua de manera rapida en sus respuestas cuando está interesado y deja de contestar cuando quizas ya encontro otro empleo. Sugiero mantener una buena dinamica en las comunicaciones que ayudara a fortalecer el vinculo y obtener informacion cuando se necesite.

The key is to strike a balance by staying in touch in a way that demonstrates your sincere interest and keeps you on their radar while avoiding a frequency that sends off a vibe of PEST or GIANT FREAK.

After an interview, it's useful to take 15 minutes and jot down notes about what you talked about, questions they asked, and anything that you may want to refer back to if you get to interact with that person again via email, phone, or a next interview. Referencing things you previously talked about will show your interest and your listening and communication skills. It may seem trivial, but interviews are about connecting with people, and when you refer back to previous conversations and interactions, you'll build the connection between you and the interviewer.

I am a huge believer in keeping the pipeline full and continuing to interview as a way to get the job you really want. Having options through continual interviewing will send a subliminal message that you are in demand…they helps with getting hired!! Companies want what’s in demand. 😉

Just like one diversifies their investment portfolio, the same applies to one’s job search. There is nothing more effective in a negotiation than leverage of another job offer, and it’s always beneficial to know that your pipeline of opportunity is being built out and growing more robust vs. getting caught with a frozen job process or a rejection with no other options. Yes, it’s exhausting mentally and emotionally to be seeking, however if the goal is to land and negotiate a role with higher comp and a better quality of life, there is a game of probability and statistics that needs to be taken into consideration.

You never know what is going to happen,the job is revised, company undoes a reorg and they move an internal candidate into the role. Nothing is a given.

Maintain your momentum during the waiting period by staying proactive and prepared. Resist the urge to pause your job search or ease up on your preparations. Continue applying for other opportunities, actively network with professionals, and stay updated on industry and company developments. Anticipate potential follow-up interviews, tests, or tasks that may be integral to the hiring process.

It is easy - keep your mind open. You cannot make sure that you will get the job even after a great interview. Have a plan B. Or even a plan C. It is not all about you and there are factors you might not foresee. Send a sincere “thank you” note, be grateful for the positive experience and use the energy to understand your own aspirations and follow also other opportunities. It’s not over till it’s over - stamped and signed.

Recently the job market has tested job seekers in transition requiring a tremendous amount of resilience and patience. Following up throughout the different stages of the process if done with good intention and curiosity, allow the job seeker to have some control and stay at top of mind as decisions are being made even if things are in flux within the back office. People can feel the energy behind words, so when following up, don’t believe that you are being a nuisance, instead, put in the energy of care, curiosity, and genuine interest.

Los procesos de selección muchas veces se dilatan más de lo esperado. Esto hace que los candidatos muchas veces piensen que ya no están en carrera. Tener en claro y consultar sobre cuales serán los pasos del proceso completo ayudará a establecer expectativas de cada etapa y poder consultar en caso que los tiempos sean mas extenso de lo esperado. En mi experiencia he tenido varios procesos que se demoraron por vacaciones del que contrata o por cambios organizacionales. Sin embargo esto no se traduce en que los candidatos sean reachazados. muchas veces ya hay un candidato elegido y la empresa retomara con eol mismo. Mi conejo es que estos tiempos hacen perder muy buenos candidatos que esten avanzado en otros procesos.

Your search is not done until you have a signed offer letter with all background checking requirements completed.

Esta etapa puede ser muy dura para el caso de los que reciben una respuesta negativa. Se genera mucha expectativa en las instancias finales. Como reclutadora siempre remarco que las personas que llegan a instancias finales han cubierto ampliamente la expectativa del perfil pero por supuesto es sólo una persona la que ingresa. Muchas veces las empresas suelen volver sobre los ternados cuando hay nuevas vacantes similares. En más de una ocasión he podido ofrecer otro puesto para la misma empresa y que rapidamente la persona pueda ingresar por haber participado en el proceso anterior.

Make sure that you have the proper mental posture throughout your job search. The fact is that no matter how difficult your current circumstances are, you don't need THIS job. You need ONE job. If after the interview it's a mutual fit, great! If not, that's 100% okay too. You will get this done with or without them!

If you have a close friend in the team, follow the results from them. They could inform you with more details such as your chance, the HR culture of the company, usual delay duration, etc.

As an interview is ending, I ask the interviewer if there is anything that is causing a barrier to hiring me as I want to address it before I leave. If the position is something I really want, it’s my desire to remove those barriers.
