I think the most important starting point is to identify your ideal customer. Is it a transactional or consultative sale. The building blocks of the sales process really begin there. Once identified, then build your strategy. For consultative: Discovery, identifying and solving for pain points, identifying the different stakeholders and their needs, as well as uncovering their buying process is all part of your strategy. I like to say the goal of a sale is a referenceable customer, so as part of your strategy you must think past just booking a deal and concentrate on the complete customer journey. Identify your internal stakeholders and teams that will get you to a referenceable customer and then incorporate them into your strategy.
