I don't believe in online courses. Some might be good, but eh, too contrained. YouTube is your best place to start. Get a book, any intro to linguistics book, and use it as inspiration to YouTube stuff. I would focus on pragmatics, phonology, and typology because have to do with language USE. Linguistics can be thought of two fields: Linguistics Formal which is an old culture dating to the 1800's and linguistics writ large, which includes the study of ALL communicative behavior, human or otherwise. So it's a MASSIVE search space. The intro books are constrained by orthodox thought, but you do need a good foundation. Use the book to explore YouTube and the net as a whole.

The best way to learn linguistics is to get internship in company that works with NLP technologies and work on real projects and examples. Reading books, courses etc is a very long and hard way of studying.

In general, I would suggest looking into systemic functional linguistics as a practical start to studying linguistics as a start. If I am ever confronted with a technical term I don't understandstand, I remember famous words: nihil sub sole novus est: nothing's new under the sun. Wikipedia is a great place to start, but many articles are hard to "digest." I would use scholar.google.com and find seminal papers which use the terms in context and explain them. I would also use google books to find the same. libgen.li or some other mirror is your source for texts if you need a DEEPER look. Go to your local University library, find a book on the topic you are interested in and then scan the books next to it. "handbooks" for certain topic can be useful as they often explain foundation term. In the end, the best dictionary is a trusted friend/expert in the field.

Stack exchange, Reddit are the best sources in my opinion. If you speak a language other than English, search for fora in that language. Linguist list -I never liked. Too stodgy, your milage may vary.

To understand how language works as a system I'd recommend books)) Lectures would be good but only if they are courses of lectures, not a random combination.

Podcasts like Lingthusiasm and A Way With Words are accessible and fun but also tickle the brains of people who are deep in the field — and often act as good refreshers or new takes on familiar subject matter. Podcasts can also expose you to areas of Linguistics that may be less familiar to experts and non-experts alike, such as sociolinguistics or even less popular fields like phonetics or phonology. It’s also a good way to learn about people in the field to network with or get to know, which can help open doors to opportunities in the field or simply to improve your skill set for academia or industry.

Videos teaches you the exact way you need to pronounce Words how your lip syncing should be. This will literally help you to be able to learn from the presentation of the Visuals from YouTube or more video providers platforms.

No doubt, online resources are very helpful in learning Linguistics effectively. However, offline courses, resources and activities are very beneficial too. Apart from the option of enrolling in a regular institution to learn linguistics, research is a very key factor in Applied Linguistics. For this to be effectively done, it requires human interactions and this cannot be left only to the online pathway. More so, physical library resources will come in handy for learning Linguistics effectively.
