You are as strong as your systems. Clear templates to follow for each design revision is key to standardize the product design process, this could be anything from a word document or a slideshow summarizing and highlighting the focus, objectives and next steps of the review. Sharing the actual CAD model can be of little value if the viewer or client has not been educated on the design and the process properly. Thus, written and visual material such as schematics, summaries, plots, graphs… etc are essential to properly explain the current status of the project and next steps. Common shared folder across the organization for saving all CAD project files, assuming you work on native software and not with PLM. 2. For physical builds use the customer released drawings and not the ones in your system/confirm on the revision with customer before build, this is a common issue across many companies, cust. requested to build a part and you build it as per latest Rev C in your system, however, customer had a Rev E released. I would say adoption of AI is forcing a lot of professionals across industries to pick up the pace. Simply because it's such a groundbreaking technology. I've personally tried it with circuit designing CAD software like Flux or Altium automating the most tedious process of picking the right value components and organizing connections in a PCB in the most optimal way possible. Mixed results but the progress is solid!

There are indeed many uses for 3D printing... prototyping, production or even pre-impregnation tools... Our experience also shows that making an identical part or assembly in 3D printing is rarely interesting. Except in the case of prototyping or mock-ups, if it can be produced conventionally, it will always be more interesting in the traditional way. On the other hand, if you want to optimize weight, performance or reduce the number of parts, additive manufacturing is the answer! In this case, we obviously don't design in the same way in CAD, the rules change, the boundaries change and the field of possibilities becomes infinite. it's no longer rare for simulation (fluidics, for example) to drive design, and not the other way round!

3D printing is a great rapid prototyping tool to catch mistakes before designs are sent off. This is especially important for functionality. Seeing something materialized in 3D can help catch things a 3D model might not show- texture and surfacing issues, ergonomic considerations (how does the object feel?), form and size considerations (especially important when the part has to connect with other parts). PLA and ABS printers are the cheapest but take some technical configuration in terms of leveling the bed and getting materials to stick. Additionally the "plastic ink" can be wasteful but advancements in bio-based "ink" spools are being made. Resin based 3D printers like the one from formlabs is more expensives but best for fine details.

Because production lead times have to be shorter and shorter, because personalization has become omnipresent, because we've become accustomed to having everything quickly and all the time... we need to reduce production times! no more time for mock-ups... simulation (CAE) allows us to validate all constraints (mechanical, fluidic, sound, etc.), and the realistic rendering of CAD models has become incredibly impressive. And let's not forget augmented or virtual reality, which allows you to immerse yourself in a project before it even exists... the tools are available!

Say if you are working on a rubber part (gasket, grommet etc) but haven't seen the manufacturing plant, plan for an industrial orientation at your such vendor and grasps the fundamentals. Another aspects is, upskill on following: what resin material (property and selection criteria), what Tool design approach (vendor visit, Tool trials) and what manufacturing processes (say blow molding, injection molding) are going to be used!!

In the construction industry we use cad to make client vision to drawings that help in the construction stage .....improving your skills in different software eg, Archicad, Autocad, Twin motion, Photoshop,Tekla etc gives you a massive advantage even during job hunts and they are not hard to use just be consistent and by time you produce Works you even feel happy as you give to the client ..... There’s a lot of homework to do in order to keep up with industry trends. First and foremost there must be a desire to read and research AFTER your normal 9-5 hours. What we’re paid to do is the bare minimum. You should always seek to upskill yourself and your team by learning about new tools, trends, and workflows. Even if this means doing it after your normal working hours are done. After learning about a new tool, you should test it out. Does it make sense to implement? How long will it take to implement? How easy is it to learn? And will it be used?? You must also have an environment that loves to challenge the status quo. You can’t expect change to happen automatically, you must make it happen. Nothing changes if nothing changes!

In my opinion, navigating the headwinds of any dynamic industry demands constant learning, a relentless pursuit of knowledge that keeps us soaring above the competition. As the world embraces ever-higher specialization, the ability to continuously upgrade our toolset and refine our expertise becomes more vital than ever. Deadlines may beckon, but prioritizing this commitment to being lifelong students, is not optional, it's the fuel. I learn everyday. New trends come with new technology. You have 2D & 3D AutoCAD and the trends just do not end at your doorstep. Your company has to willing to spend time and money training and sending employees to trade shows and local events. Your company maybe out West and the new trends out East have not reached you yet because you are only focused on local trends. To grow with the new trends you have to spread and learn from everywhere.
