Just like Lori and others above have said - build the courage to speak up. Do proper documentation to back up your claim and don’t be shy to not speak up in meetings and in forums where ideas or work is being discussed. Be respectful but that does not mean to just let go and not speak up and be your own advocate.

When a colleague is stealing credit for your work, it's important to protect your career growth by addressing the situation thoughtfully and professionally. First, document your contributions and ensure that your work is visible to key stakeholders. If the issue persists, have a direct, calm conversation with the colleague, expressing your concerns and seeking clarity on how credit should be shared. It’s crucial to maintain professionalism, even if it’s uncomfortable. If necessary, involve a manager or HR to mediate the situation. In the long run, focus on building strong relationships and cultivating a reputation for transparency, collaboration, and leadership.

When a colleague takes credit for your work, focus on protecting your growth strategically. Document your contributions thoroughly with emails and updates to create a clear record. Regularly share progress and results with stakeholders to ensure visibility. Build strong relationships with your team and managers, so your efforts are naturally recognized. If the issue persists, address it privately and professionally, framing it as a need for clarity in representing contributions. Strengthen your personal brand through networking and external visibility to establish credibility beyond the workplace. Focus on long-term success, not short-term setbacks.
