Because I have certainly encountered this question before. My short answer: "Never compromise Quality - you need to address this gap immediately." For medical devices and IVDs there is no way to suddenly circumvent the Quality requirements. Also for many other products including: - cellphones (IT) - SAAS - Any regulated product whatsover (You gonna try to "fly past" CSA/UL???") So address why there are QA/QMS gaps The question is "If I have QA/QMS gaps, how can I possibly pull-in my new launch timeline?" And I don't understand "access damage" at all.

In many situations, I have found that analyzing the process with simulation often leads to insights that are not obvious when staring at the "Black Box" of the process. One example is the single screw extruder. Pellets go in and polymer melt comes out but you don't see what happens to the material. Simulation offers a "window" into the process that makes the solution obvious. On one occasion a client asked me to fix their die because the pipe they were producing was not round. A simulation of their extruder indicated that melt coming out of the extruder had a large melt temperature variation. This was resulting in non uniform cooling that was distorting the pipe. We replace the screw with an optimized design and the problem went away.

Absolutely...if there was a QA/QMS gap during development/release then corrective actions must be monitored. Such critical errors must be addressed far up the "R&D" food chain so that they do not occur again. In my experience the most significant reasons for companies to experience significant negative pressures resulted from their inability to assess "differences" between development versus standards and regulatory bodies.
