It's important for the team to understand that AI isn't here to take their jobs. Instead, those who know how to use AI will have an advantage. As new AI models and tools/Agents emerge, staying updated is essential to remain valuable and competitive. The team should be given hands-on experience with real-time AI applications and trained on basic AI concepts to help them use these tools effectively.

From my experience, I would say the key is showing, not telling. Rather than pushing AI adoption, we start with a small, high-impact project that demonstrates clear value. Once the team sees how AI can make their daily work easier - like automating repetitive tasks - natural enthusiasm follows. What I've found works best is letting the team help shape how AI fits into their daily workflow. When people are part of the process, resistance turns into innovation.

1. Start with awareness. Apprise the team on how AI will ease their work with real-life scenarios. 2. Use demonstration to familiarise the team with AI tools being adopted. Unknown territories are always scary - demonstration will help bridge the understanding gap. 3. Hands-on experience of AI tools is a value skills for both in-house and external career growth opportunities. Make sure that the team is aware of the career benefits as well. 4. Always encourage open feedback. During adoption phase of AI, always conduct periodic retrospect to identify and work upon ideas for better use of AI.

Speaking from experience here (I deployed a GenAI solution at a Fortune 500). My best advice is to start with the folks drawn to the technology. Build your early wins with the techno-optimists. Use their results as the fodder to feed the flywheel of adoption. Haters gonna hate. You won’t win everyone over, and that’s fine. To improve each person’s chances of success, make sure they understand how the app functions and what prep work they need to do for excellent outputs. GenAI is like an intern. You need to provide it adequate context, clear and cogent instructions, and some examples. Then it will do a fine job.

Before any integration, I would have the team experiment with using AI daily via a UI like Chatgpt, Claude, or Gemini. It's the best way to get a feel for what's possible and how it augments what they're doing day to day. Then, rigorously map what you'd like to solve with integration into specific software or workflows. Start small, find wins, and build excitement.
