Most Times People are resisting brand guidelines constraints due to their own Biases. A little reminder every now and then that Brand Guidelines were set up for a different user and not themselves goes a long way. Sometimes, people are resistant because they feel stuck trying to execute a design or they are not able to represent data in a way that they had in mind due to branding constraints, in that case, what works best is collecting design references. I try to find References that visualize data/content in different ways than what I had in mind. That really helps me find inspiration. Exploration plays key role in implementing Branding in a way that works for everyone so keep experimenting!
