You're interviewing for a content strategy position. How can you prove your time management skills?

I would prove my time management skills by providing specific examples of past experiences where I successfully managed multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering quality content. Outlining my workflow processes, including setting clear goals, breaking down tasks into manageable steps, and utilizing tools such as project management software to track progress. Lastly, I would address any challenges I've faced with time management in the past and discuss how I proactively addressed them, showcasing my self-awareness and willingness to learn and improve.

I'd say it always helps to have a plan! Within that plan, figure out what the priority tasks are and how much time and effort are needed. It also helps to be realistic with what you can produce in X amount of time. Allocate a specific amount of time to complete each task and stick to it. Write these plans down on a paper or digital planner (I use excel).

I did time management by strategic planning. I plan before executing tasks. This allows one to expect and get an idea of what they will be doing and what challenges will be there in the functions. If you are planning, it is easier to finish content and simultaneously deliver the highest quality content with minimal supervision and before deadlines. Being punctual, following milestones, scripting, preparing, brainstorming, ideating, using notes, planning, and scheduling on the calendar were some ways that helped in the content strategy process.

It goes without saying: Be timely! Ahead of time! And work from a to do list. Read The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Guwande. Hell, carry it around to show it off and in hopes people will ask -- that will send the message. But nothing will convey more about your time management skills than will being 15 minutes early for every deadline and meeting. Deeds, not words. And needless to say, ensure your watch and clocks are properly set.

Explain how you utilise a content calendar to plan out your content in advance. Detail how this calendar allows you to visualise the publishing schedule, ensure a consistent flow of content, and avoid last-minute rushes, showcasing proactive planning and time allocation. Discuss the specific project management tools you use (like Asana, Trello, or Monday.com) and how they help you keep track of tasks, deadlines, and team collaboration. Highlight how these tools enable you to break down projects into manageable tasks and set deadlines, ensuring each piece of content is produced and published on time.

Talk about a project where your content strategy led to a measurable increase in website traffic, conversions, or user engagement. Be specific about the percentage increase and the timeframe. For instance, you could mention how a targeted content campaign resulted in a 30% increase in web traffic over three months. Discuss a specific challenge you faced, such as a content strategy that wasn't meeting its goals or a significant change in audience behaviour. Explain the steps you took to diagnose the issue, adjust the strategy, and the results of these actions. For example, if you revamped your content strategy to focus on video content due to changing audience preferences, detail the process and the positive outcome.

These are great but also I would talk about the time management strategy/ method you use. It works in the same way quoting experts does in an essay. It shows you have researched and applied methods to your practice.

As much as you want to show what you've achieved with your excellent time management skills, it would provide great insights into your learning experiences and situations where you learnt the importance of time management where you did not meet your ideal results. This shows that you know what to avoid and how to overcome those obstacles/difficulties.

You could also ask about the KPIs you will be expected to meet. It is good to know in advance what volume of work will you have to tackle before deciding to take the job.

You write better and quicker the topics that you master. Showcase your topical authority. A junior copywriter may take up to two days to finish a 2,000-word article. A senior guy may deliver more insightful content in half a day (without AI, please!).
