I will ask what am I automating? If this is similar to a previous experience, then I will highlight what I did, including challenges and actions to implement the project. To get any job person needs to demonstrate he or she may do that job. Technical skills are most, but process automation has one important caveat. To successfully do it person need to listen and ask questions. Service matter experts often take some parts of process for granted and easily may miss to mention them in requirements. Successful automation officer should be able to analyze requirements, see hidden parts of the process and ask questions to make sure the automation will work as needed. If you got a question on the job interview don’t jump to conclusion, sometimes asking from the interviewer clarifying questions more important than providing fast answer. Of course clarifying questions should make sense and demonstrate your knowledge.

An interview is a 2 way exchange. The company interviews the candidate, but the candidate is also interviewing the company to see if it’s a good fit. Asking questions also shows that you have an interest in the company and sometimes that you did some research. It shows that the opportunity is being taken seriously. I have noticed that the more experienced a candidate is, the more questions they tend to ask.

What is the most menial and time demanding part of your weekly routine? What tasks or responsibilities do you find slip by attention more often than others, but if consistently delivered would be a value add? What pain points of struggles do you experience with communication and collaboration?

A 1-2 liner is absolutely fine. No stories. No bla bla. Just an authentic "I really enjoyed the interview especially by understanding much more on the position in detail which made it clear to that this is the position I want to go for as it also reflects also my own purpose and mission etc." and "Thank you very much for your time and for your invitation and I am looking forward to your earliest reply. That's it.

Be honest about what you can and can't do. It can hurt your own progress (as well as the company's progress) if you don't give an honest answer. When I hired people in the past, the current capabilities weren't that interesting to me. I was way more interested in how well the person could adapt to change.

Hire for attitude not for functional and technical skills because you can teach these within 30 days up to a point where the new hire is able to wander around the corporate independently. From my own experience, it pays our tremendously when going new ways rejecting the old fashioned ways which do not reflect the Zeitgeist anymore.

This will help to understand the candidate's understanding of the Process Automation in every aspect.

Be authentic, honest, calm, friendly. Ask if you don't understand. Answer with I do not know if you really do not know but always show that you are tech savyy and are always willing to learn and grow and develop yourself with this new position. Your highest goal is to work as a team with many others on the same company goals. Show them you are a team player and people person.
