PCVR is where we live the best quality of an immersive experince or a game,in my experience as a gamer and virtual event organizer. There said,it has its own perks; I couldn't afford to buy it for years,why? Because I need a high-end PC (desktop ideally but gamer laptops are pretty much doing the work too); it means, you need a comp. with Intel7, NVIDIA GTX 4060 and a memory of 16GB + Games like VRChat, Alien Rescue, Silent Hill always better on PCVR and ideally with HTC Vive because as the end user,I'm pretty satisfied with my link cable and Quest 2 but, Oculus App does not always support some games or apps depending on the developer's optimization preferences. And now the new UEVR Mod adds VR support to almost any Unreal Engine Game!

Standalone VR is my favourite to experience any game, immersive experience, concert +... Even when we get the high resolution on PCVR; Standalone VR is a great tool both for customers and gamers to experience virtual reality content -almost- without any requirement for PC or a phone. Still,if you're on Quest 2,you need to activate your Oculus App profile via PC or mobile which is a great advantage for downloading games, VR experiences via app store through your phone or PC. Another great advantage of Standalone VR is being cable-free and creating a safe boundary on your environment. Honestly,standalone VR is the reason why we had more irl, XR events over years because of the easy to apply features of it as a high-tech tool.

If you want to get into gaming in VR. Then the best platform for a beginner of Unity because of it's predesigned templates and a great set of extensive documentation to get your wagon going. Best for beginners. They also have their own YouTube channel if you're not much into documentation although I would recommend taking a look at it atleast from the surface.
