To have a great QMS in place.I would recommend the following step : - Determination of the compagny strategy and write the Quality Policy - Training of the personnel( having a training matrix in place) - Process Review (input/output/CTQ) - Creation of dashboard - Quality System Sustainement Also having a PLM system in place will help the site to have a robust management of the documentation on the site.

ISO Standards are woefully out-of-date. ISO 9001 in particular contains several "non-value-added" requirements, focuses too much on generalizations and philosophical topics that cannot audited, and is structured most horribly around PDCA (which Deming called a "corruption" of his Deming cycle). I'd structure a QMS around Ishikawa's 6Ms and incorporate more modern Quality Profession concepts... such a the Lean concepts. Obviously, I can't elaborate in great detail here. So suffice it to say that ISO 9001 shouldn't even be on the table for a "modern" QMS.

GxPs means Good Practices in a wide range of regulations such as GMP, GLP, GSP, GCP and GEP, which mean Manufacturing, Laboratory, Storage, Clinical, and Engineering respectively. They are applied in pharmaceutical & food industries.

All Quality Management Systems have their place, and it is best to use multiple systems. For a data driven manufacturing process, six sigma is a must. Lean and Kaizen are excellent for driving culture change and ensuring appropriate means of escalation are in place, and management stays informed of what is actually happening on the floor or at the bench. ISO standards may be required for a specific industry, but other standards exist for other industries. TQM encompasses many of these elements, and may be the best single quality management system. But when leading organizational change, you really need to use multiple tools to improve all aspects of Quality Management.
