"Change is the only certainty in life! Being rigid is never a good idea. I recommend that my clients reassess their lives and priorities every three years. By doing so, we can maximize our moments. We live in a constantly changing world; it's best for us to position ourselves to keep up with it."

It's very important to reassess not only timelines but also goals and interests. Stuff (a.k.a. life) happens. Like any journey, career journeys are built on a fair amount of assumptions. A lot of variables have to hold firm for your plan to unfold as envisioned. Reassessing the timeline will assist you in maintaining a reasonable time horizon for accomplishing your goal. In the meantime, are you assessing the marketplace and how its needs might be changing? How wedded are you to your current plan? Are you willing to pivot if necessary? Being flexible and having a growth mindset (willing to pivot or change directions) are crucial to any successful journey, including your career.

Our career journey is dynamic, influenced by personal growth, changing aspirations, and external factors. By regularly evaluating our progress and timelines, we create space for self-reflection, which is key to ensuring that our goals still resonate with our evolving sense of purpose. It is important to stay flexible and resilient . Sticking rigidly to a timeline that no longer aligns with our values or circumstances can lead to frustration or burnout. Ultimately, a career journey is not a straight line—it's a series of milestones that should evolve as one grows. Reassessing and adapting timelines empowers us to stay connected to our 'why,' embrace change, and achieve long-term success in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.

There’s no shame in being thrown off track with distractions personally and professionally. It’s human. I love using timelines with my clients. The first one they do is an emotional chart from birth to now so they understand the emotions around what’s holding them back and what they want in life. Then they create a value-aligned vision and map out a goal and planning timeline. I suggest my clients check in with their planning and goals every two months to make sure they’re on track and still aligned with their values. Inevitably, life happens and we change as we learn, and so our timeline changes. Changing the timeline, if it’s aligned with our values is not being off track it’s adapting and expanding while still moving forward.

Having a career plan is important, but being able to adapt and adjust is equally important. Keep in mind that things can change rapidly. Some of the changes you will be able to control, but some of them will be out of your hands. For the latter, be sure to stay open minded, embrace the obstacles and unexpected events as part of the growth process and enjoy the journey. There is more than one way to achieve your goals and reach your dreams.

Probably the most important skill is determination. But showing up for you will fade in importance if there is no objective to complete. Set up milestones and show up for meeting those deadlines

Les jalons sont indispensables en ce cens qu'ils permettent de confirmer ou modifier les objectifs de carrière. Il est tout à fait possible que l'on se soit fixer un objectif en début de vie professionnelle et que ce dernier, au fur et à mesure de notre propre croissance, se transforme. Les jalons permettent d'utiliser le facteur temps, inarrêtable, à notre avantage.

As an IT professional who has worked in different domains and teams in a reputed MNC, when I got introduced to Life Coaching program, I felt there was some attraction towards coaching and mentoring. Après six mois, Fanny réalise que le secteur des technologies vertes est en pleine expansion, mais qu'il est aussi très compétitif. Elle se rend compte qu'en plus de ses compétences en gestion de projet, il serait bénéfique d'approfondir ses connaissances dans les énergies renouvelables, un domaine en plein essor et en parfaite adéquation avec ses valeurs. It is often our tendency to plan our lives in advance. Whether it is simple decisions or life changing ones. But, life doesn't always turn out as planned, which makes it very essential for us to adapt and embrace change. Speaking from my own experience, when I started out on my professional journey, I was trying various fields. I was clear that I wanted to be a businessman and tried out various fields and industries until one resonated and stuck with me. Never had I imagined in that age that I was going to come across spirituality and the trajectory of my life was going to change. It thus becomes important to be open to changes and pivot when you find something that clicks better.

Cuando pedimos retroalimentación, nos encantarán las bonitas, los elogios, las flores, que alimentarán nuestro ego, haciéndonos sentir que somos brillantes. Y esta muy bien tenerlas presente, disfrutarlas y que nos alimenten para fortalecer nuestra confianza, nuestra seguridad y continuar en ese camino. Pero cuidado, tiene una parte peligrosa, si nos quedamos sólo con lo que alimenta al ego, y no nos abrimos a las críticas de los clientes desconformes o no del todo satisfechos, corremos el riesgo perder la humildad que tantos beneficios nos trae humanamente. Escuchemos a todos, y agradezcamos a aquellos que nos han dicho algo desagradable. Allí esta lo que necesitamos para seguir preparándonos, iluminemos nuestras sombras con conocimiento.

Para mí resulta fundamental el recibir retoralimentación respecto de mi carrera. No desde el punto de vista de ser inseguro, sino desde el poder reforzar mis decisiones que voy en el camino correcto. Esto incluye el mantener un análisis objetivo de mi trayectoria (como primer lugar) y luego tener información desde fuera respecto si la senda es la correcta o si debo realizar correcciones.

Cuando realizamos alguna actividad, uno de los mecanismos que podemos usar para medir nuestro desempeño es el feedback, la retroalimentación en algunos momentos puede resultar incomoda, porque no siempre estamos en disposición de que lo que hacemos sea evaluado, allí es donde entra en juego el ego, para recibir feedback debemos ser humildes y ocupar la escucha activa, si no estamos dispuestos a mejorar o introducir cambios a lo que hacemos no podremos recibir feedback, como personas estamos en proceso de desarrollo permanente, cuando dejamos de aprender dejamos de crecer, el crecimiento no solo se refiere a la edad, la escucha activa, la observación y la mejora continua deben ser habilidades que todo profesional debe desarrollar

Ils prennent en considération les courants fluctuants, les vents changeants et les tempêtes, avaries, fatigue et d'autres aléas pouvant nuire au navire mais aussi à l'équipage! Le capitaine est le décisionnaire final et pourtant il prend sans cesse des informations et des confirmations des spécialistes qui l'entourent pour naviguer sereinement. Demander des feedbacks est primordial pour économiser vos ressources et éviter les tornades.

Réviser peut signifier s'ajuster et s'adapter. Il parait essentiel d'utiliser ce principe pour vivre sereinement. Votre vision à long terme va s'affiner au fur et à mesure de vos expériences de vie. Heureusement... Utiliser votre cadre et votre "bushido" pour vérifier régulièrement l'alignement entre nos valeurs, notre objectif et le parcours sur lequel vous vous engagez. Parfois nous avons besoin d'un coup de pouce pour préserver nos ressources et garder l'équilibre. Ce n'est pas une faiblesse, c'est une garantie. Le sens et la cohérence de vos actes seront les mots clés permettant de vous assurer que vous avez choisi votre propre chemin, cognitivement et émotionnellement.

As our career progress, so do our life circumstances and our priorities. If career is always our #1 priority, we may be able to stay on-track. More likely than not, life will change and so will our priorities (especially as we move into marriage, having a family, caring for our parents, etc.). Reviewing for short-term adjustments is important, but so is allowing for LONG-TERM redirections. The willingness to rewrite goals based on new circumstances and current/future plans is key to long-term career productivity and satisfaction.

I find the Year Compass open source review tool to be highly accessible, yet insightful. I take time in nature, sometimes working with plant medicine, to help open my mind to challenge my assumptions and dare to dream beyond.

Never be afraid to reevaluate and consider other ways that may be more aligned to achieve your desired results. By doing this you will find the method that works best for you.
