When starting out: -Good and done is better than perfect and yet to come... -Simple and functional is better than having all the bells and whistles planned out for some future date... Bottom line - get something up that works and continuously improve it...

Most importantly your website should be user-friendly. Few steps toward this goal are to optimize for mobile devices. Follow WCAG standards. Stick to common design elements. Create a visual hierarchy. Simplify the navigation. Establish credibility. Make sure your content is legible.

There are nice templates that you can use to get going. They help you get up and running which is really what you need. I used a service that had a few templates and we had a website up in 10 days. I wrote all of the copy, but their template allowed us to have multiple pages, a lead magnet, and even a few pre-written generic articles. They had a lot of the back-end work done, such as contact pages and an investor portal. Since then, we have added a good amount of information, articles, and pictures of our projects. We have even begun translating the site. "Launch and iterate" is key when building a platform.

You always want to add value while communicating your personality and services to your audience. It is very important to keep it updated . . . so many real estate sites do not.

Defining your goals should always be the first thing you do, even before thinking about which platform you're going to use. Work in tandem with your goals + the needs of your audience to find your niche. If your goals aren't clear from the beginning, you might end up wasting time using a platform you thought was the right one, then have to adjust course later on. Lay out your real estate goals and work backwards (don't put the cart in front of the horse).

Interview a few of your top clients. Note all the words they say, and what keeps them up at night. Ask clarifying questions and summarize the main points back to them Define them to the greatest level of detail… where do they work? What do they do? This will help you tailor and customize your product or service as well as website to your avatar.

Don't hesitate to use the free tools out there such as Google Analytics (just recently upgraded to GA4 Analytics.) I certainly don't understand all of the data well, but it can give you some insight as to the traffic and new users on your website. It examines user behavior and defines some user demographics. And you can also conduct surveys and polls on your website and LinkedIn to provide additional feedback.

Understand who your clients are. You can begin with the basics. Reach out to your sphere of influence. Work with what you have a progressively work towards the audience you desire. This is for beginners.

content is important for a real estate director, especially in terms of effective communication. Clear and compelling content in presentations, reports, and other materials helps convey complex information to various stakeholders. Additionally, having a strong online presence through well-curated content can enhance your professional reputation and attract potential clients and collaborators. Being able to articulate ideas and strategies through written and verbal communication is a valuable skill for a real estate director.

Absolutely the single most important thing. DO NOT PUKE BACK CANNED NONSENSE. Be different, be controversial, counter the typical idiocy and THINK what a buyer or seller needs. Make liberal use of short videos - "shorts" are killer effective.

Testing your site is imperative and sometimes tricky----but the great thing is that you can always go back in and delete or edit. It's always helpful to have a good friend or family member go and check from his/her perspective. Sometimes with website creators, it's difficult to "act as a visitor" on your own site.

I add client testimonials to my website home page to demonstrate my social proof of how I provide value to my clients. It's a form of personal brand markrting to display to prospective clients who I am and what I do to serve people who need my help to solve their real estate problems.

Trying to complete with Zillow, Homes and Realtor dot coms? Do you have 10s of 1000s of listings? And how many 10s millions of dollars to design and complete? Or have a very simple website and have all your agents have their professional profiles on Zillow, Homes and Realtor dor coms .
