When stepping into big territory, acknowledge and allow yourself to experience the initial discomfort. Understand that growth often starts with some challenges, but with time and perseverance, you'll adapt and thrive. Stepping into the unfamiliar may cause initial discomfort, but embracing it leads to a richer life. New environments encourage us to make new connections, learn new skills, and discover fresh perspectives. Yet, just like with any new territory, you grow and adapt over time. Stop !! Do not take the promotion and new responsibility if you are not ready or sure of what you have to deal with or what your stakeholders are expecting out of you. No shame in saying ‘not now’ and preventing a temporal spike of aspiration for compensation or role or power and then ending up in a miserable failure. Of course there is an opportunity cost for waiting and coming back later but it is has far less consequences. If you are ready then embark on creating a 30-60-90 day plan of activities and goals, create a new constitution matrix and map the plan as outcome to all high power and high influence stakeholders in the constitution. Ensure incremental knowledge gap closure, follow plan and take actionable feedback to showing impact.
