🎉 Out of thousands of applications from across the globe, 7 extraordinary projects have been chosen as finalists for the Hello Tomorrow Challenge's Industrial Biotech & New Materials track supported by Syensqo and Biotope Ventures! This track is all about pushing the boundaries of bio-based compounds, smart materials, and sustainable industrial solutions. From engineered organisms and enzymatic processes to advanced recycling and biodegradation, these startups are shaping a circular and more sustainable future. So, who made it to the top? Let’s unveil the 7 track finalists! 🌱 Bioeutectics (🇺🇸): Revolutionising the solvents industry by replacing petrochemical solvents with high-performance, nature-derived deep eutectic solvents for industrial processes. 🌲 Boreal Bioproducts (🇫🇮): Upcycling residual wood streams from industrial sources using a low-chemical, water-based biorefinery process to produce biochemicals such as polysaccharides and lignin polyphenols. ♻️ BUYO Bioplastics Company Limited (🇻🇳): Transforming abundant bio-waste into premium biodegradable materials that match plastic’s performance while leaving no environmental trace. Their proprietary technology creates tailored solutions for global brands across industries, turning waste management into a circular opportunity. 🧪 Level Nine (🇩🇪): Combining bio-nanotechnology and quantum chemistry to create enzyme-inspired catalysts that thrive in industrial conditions. Their breakthrough catalysts bridge the gap between crude traditional methods and fragile enzymes, unlocking a pathway to profitable, fossil-free chemical manufacturing. 👜 Qorium B.V. (🇳🇱): Synthetic biology startup developing a cellular agriculture and tissue engineering platform to produce real leather. The result is high-quality, durable leather with a drastically reduced environmental impact compared to cow-derived sources. 💧 Retein (🇸🇪): Developing separation membranes that efficiently recover waterborne resources with molecular precision for circular use. 💠 Spotless Group Materials Inc. (🇺🇸): Pioneering PFAS-free, nature-inspired coatings that create ultra-slippery surfaces repelling liquids, solids, and biological materials. Their patented LESS technology transforms everyday surfaces into self-cleaning, low-friction interfaces, revolutionising both consumer products and industrial applications. These finalists — along with those from the other nine tracks — will pitch their game-changing technologies live at the Hello Tomorrow Summit March 13-14th in front of an expert jury and an audience of 400. 🎟️ Want to be among these 400 people and witness the future of industrial biotech & new materials unfold? Grab your pass now and see the finalists live (link in comments)! ✨ #DeepTech #Innovations #HelloTomorrow2025 #HTSummit2025

Co-Founder and Chief Impact Officer, Plastics for Change

Waste collectors work hard every day walking long distances to collect plastic waste. It’s tough and demanding work. With technology advancing so quickly, I wondered how we could help make their jobs easier while protecting their health. That’s why Plastics for Change introduced 'Electric Tricycles'. Now, our waste collectors can collect more plastic with less effort, earn more money, and stay healthier. This is the change I wanted to see.
