❄️⚠️ INCLEMENT WEATHER ❄️⚠️ As freezing temperatures, rain, and snow are expected, it’s crucial to prioritize safety. Here are some important tips: 1. Stay Indoors: If possible, avoid going outside during snowstorms or freezing conditions. If you must travel, dress warmly in layers, and wear hats, gloves, and sturdy, insulated boots. 2. Prepare Your Vehicle: If necessary, please start your vehicle first and let it warm up for several minutes before driving. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle, including blankets, food, water, a flashlight, and extra batteries. Keep your gas tank at least half full to prevent freezing. 3. Drive Safely: If you must drive, reduce speed and increase your following distance. Avoid sudden stops or sharp turns, and always clear snow and ice from your windshield, mirrors, and headlights before starting. 4. Clear Pathways: Shovel snow and ice from walkways, driveways, and steps regularly to avoid slips and falls. Use salt or sand to help melt ice. 5. Watch for Hypothermia and Frostbite: Prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures can cause serious health risks. If you experience numbness, tingling, or discolored skin, seek shelter immediately. Keep an eye out for signs of frostbite, especially in extremities, and get medical help if needed. 6. Stay Informed: Keep an eye on weather updates and alerts, especially if winter storms are expected to worsen. Please stay safe, and be prepared as we all navigate through these freezing and snowy conditions! 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston, Inc.
