36 Public and Human Rights are delighted with the news of the first increase in civil legal aid rates in almost 30 years. Congratulations to Duncan Lewis Solicitors Ltd. and all those involved in their successful judicial review claim challenging the failure to increase rates for civil legal aid.   This will have an enormous impact on those involved in housing and immigration cases that require funding.

The EU's Advocate General Collins has dismissed the European Commission's claim that Malta’s “golden passport” program, which grants citizenship to foreign investors, violates EU law by lacking a “genuine link” requirement between citizens and the state. A huge thanks to all at LawFriends Society for hosting us at their Immigration Conference last Thursday. Raphael Jesurum Sandra Akinbolu were up first with talks on fairness in statutory appeals and people trafficking. Dr Emily Turton gave a real insight into identifying common mental health conditions and how that is relevant to witnesses giving evidence.
