Following a successful “sneak peek” of the space during BLINK Cincinnati, Mellotone Beer Project will officially open its doors to the public today! Located at 1429 Race Street in Over-the-Rhine (OTR), the brewpub is taking up residence inside a 12,345-square-foot historic, renovated church owned by Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC). Co-owned by Dennis Kramer-Wine and Alexandra Nowell, Mellotone Beer's scratch kitchen will focus on modern American fare to pair with its fresh, uncomplicated beer selection. The co-owners have partnered with Brendan Martin, formerly of Boca Restaurant Group, to create a menu featuring a seasonal rotation of elevated, approachable dishes. Martin will serve as Mellotone’s Director of Food & Hospitality, preparing items with locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible. The brewpub’s main floor will house the restaurant portion of the space, with a neighborhood bar, Undertone, which features a small stage for live music, on the lower-level. The top floor has been converted into an indoor beer garden outfitted with beautiful greenery and first come, first served seating in addition to pool tables and darts. Nowell and Kramer-Wine collaborated with general contractor Dominic Sansalone and INDIO DESIGN on a complete overhaul of the space, giving each floor a unique look and feel. Mellotone will open its doors to the public beginning tomorrow at 5 PM. The restaurant will remain open until midnight, with the kitchen closing one hour prior, and Undertone will be open until 1AM. Check Mellotone's Instagram page for normal operating hours!

Meet Kyle ! 👋 Kyle is from northern Ohio has been assisting the downtown community for the past three years. Kyle leads new hires in the Central Business District and provides training for business checks, graffiti and sticker removal, and more. We spent some time getting to know a little more about him and what he enjoys about his role! What is your daily motivation? This job gives me a lot of freedom, but it also keeps me accountable. I love taking graffiti and stickers down and I love when people notice that we as ambassadors are passionate about keeping Downtown looking clean. What makes Cincinnati special? I’m from a smaller town, so I appreciate that people here are kind and open minded. There is always nice scenery and something to do whether its visiting an art museum or attending a concert. What brings you pride in being an ambassador downtown? Prior to starting here I was addicted to pain pills. I went to rehab and met a friend that helped me get out of that mental space and I wanted a new environment. So, I came here to Cincinnati and someone told me that 3CDC was hiring and they gave second chance opportunities, so I applied. My friend knew the hiring manager, Dana, and she reached out and gave me a chance. I see how people treat homeless people, and it brings me pride to offer them a helping hand. What do you enjoy doing on your days off? I collect coins (new and old), stickers, buttons, and knives. I also enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and her daughter. (Fun fact: Kyle’s trash can is covered with all of the cool stickers he successfully removes!) What’s a quote you live by? Always try to be a better man than you were yesterday. More than 85 ambassadors are employed by 3CDC, patrolling the streets of Downtown Cincinnati and OTR on foot, cleaning sidewalks and alleys while providing guides, maps and friendly assistance to visitors, residents, and businesses alike. If you see Kyle downtown, be sure to stop and say hello! Our ambassadors work hard to keep the city clean and safe. Thank you for all that you do, Kyle! ❤
