An important message from 5Q's CISO, Don Goldstein By now, everyone reading this post is aware of the significant global outage impacting Windows machines with downstream repercussions to IoT and OT devices everywhere.     From the cyber security CIA (Confidentiality/Integrity/Availability) triad framework perspective, the greatest impact has been on Availability. Just to be clear, this was not (as far as we know) caused by a breach or attack of any kind. The root cause was a bad update produced by CrowdStrike, a pervasive endpoint protection service.     We will learn more about the impacts, financial and otherwise, over the coming days and weeks, maybe months, as firms struggle to recover their systems.   Note of caution: Please do not let this cause your firm to let its guard down and disable your endpoint protection while your systems are up and running. The concern here is that the threat actors could choose this time to step up their attacks and hit companies left vulnerable.   Call of action to the CISO and MSSP community: Now is the time for us to step up and work together to support our customers and end users.   #CrowdstrikeOutage, #Cybersecurity, #ITOutage
