We are finalists! 8tree and Donecle have been selected as finalists for the upcoming commercial Capabilities Showcase at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex (WR-ALC) on February 19.   What is this about? WR-ALC partnered with Small Business Consulting Corporation (SBCC) to produce a showcase event featuring commercial technology innovations aligned with improving the General Visual Inspections (GVI) of Air Force assets.   What will we show? Together with Donecle, 8tree will present our #dentCHECK dent-mapping solutions for aviation maintenance.  This includes, 'Iris dentCHECK', the drone-mounted version of our well-known handheld dentCHECK tool that is broadly adopted by the civil aviation community.   Why is this important? This event highlights USAF's commitment to leverage the latest in proven and field hardened digitalization technologies to ensure higher mission capable and availability rates.  It also marks a milestone in our ongoing journey to empower DoD maintainers to accelerate warfighter readiness. Brief recap of last month's DoD Maintenance Symposium -- - importance of Sustainment for fleet/warfighter readiness cannot be overstated. New assets/gear are great to have, but it's imperative to ensure existing, usable assets are always readily available/deployable - tech for the sake of tech is just neat & cool. The real value lies in tech that enables and empowers multi-capable maintainers to be effective in austere and contested environments, as seamlessly as possible. This accelerates warfighter readiness...and safety. This is the mission of sustainment in today's evolving Defense landscape. I was very encouraged by the OSD community's recognition of 8tree's contribution to this vital sustainment mission. Rewarding to see pull from such a broad-base of maintainers, engineers, warfighters & program offices across various weapon systems. Thanks to Michael Weiss, John Shultz, Steve McKee P.E., Office of the Secretary of Defense and SAE International for organizing a fantastic event. While some dents may have minimal effects, others can damage thin aircraft skin and compromise the aircraft’s structural integrity and aerodynamic performance via the damaged area that is pushed in from its normal contour. Varying in size and severity, dents can range from minor indentations to more significant distortions of the aircraft’s surface. Dents on an aircraft’s surface can disrupt the smooth flow of air over the wings’ fuselage and other surfaces. These disruptions can increase air resistance, resulting in decreased lift, increased drag and reduced fuel efficiency. Dents can trap moisture and lead to corrosion. Furthermore, they can shorten fatigue life and contribute to the propagation of cracks. Failing to repair a dent in time can result in non-compliance with aviation regulations, leading to fines, aircraft grounding or other penalties."
